背景

Growth arrest-specific 6, also known as GAS6, is a gamma-carboxyglutamic acid (Gla) domain-containing protein thought to be involved in the stimulation of cell proliferation. GAS 6 is a ligand for the tyrosine-protein kinase receptors AXL, TYRO3 and MER whose signaling is implicated in cell growth and survival, cell adhesion and cell migration. GAS 6 regulates chondrogenic differentiation from mesenchymal cells and also plays a role in thrombosis by amplifying platelet aggregation and secretion in response to known agonists. It is over expressed in human gliomas and regulate the phagocytic function of sertoli cells.
