BACKGROUND Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF, also known as FGF2 and HBGF-2), encoded by the FGF2 gene, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family involved in bone healing, cartilage repair, bone repair, and nerve regeneration. bFGF is also a mitotic promoter that accelerates cell proliferation. bFGF regulates immune processes by specifically targeting tyrosine kinase receptors and activating the FGF/FGFR signaling pathway. bFGF combined with FGFR1/3 promoted degeneration and repair of articular cartilage, respectively. bFGF is also a known carcinogen in GBM, which contributes to glioma growth and vascularization. bFGF plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. bFGF are also involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion.
